April, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to refuse tax filing services to any users whose tax situations fall beyond the scope of the Services April provides. April may offer file upload with optical character recognition for Forms 1040 and W-2, but you are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and completeness of the uploaded or scanned data.
You also are solely responsible for reviewing, approving, and authorizing the filing of your tax return in a timely manner, as well as verifying the status of your tax return. April is not responsible for any delay, penalty, late-filing, or other consequence. It is your responsibility to pay any owed taxes in full in a timely manner as required by applicable law.
April Assist: April Assist’s preparers generally support a two business day turnaround, assuming the user provides any required or requested information, and completes any required actions, in a complete and timely manner. We reserve the right to restrict or limit the availability of April Assist for security, legal, or regulatory purposes. For users using April Assist, if you choose to use it within three business days of the applicable filing deadline, you may incur penalties and interest if you owe and need to pay taxes (for which you will be solely responsible). Real-time estimates of federal and state refunds and taxes will not be displayed within the April experience for April Assist users.
April’s Referral Partners may charge you, or have April charge you, a fee for the use of April’s tax filing services. You will not be charged an additional cost for April Assist beyond the fee charged by the Referral Partner.
Refund and Tax Payment Options: For federal and state refund and tax payment options, the filer currently only offers ACH direct deposit and check as options. The filer does not currently allow for money orders, wire payments/deposits, credit cards, or installment plans.
Maximum Refund Guarantee: If you find an error in the tax preparation that entitles you to a larger refund (or smaller liability), April will refund any fees you paid to April to use its filer to prepare that return and you may use our service to amend your return at no additional charge. To qualify, the larger refund or smaller tax liability must not be due to differences or inaccuracies in data supplied by you, your choice not to claim a deduction or credit, positions taken on your return that are contrary to law, or changes in federal or state tax laws.
Accuracy Guarantee: If April’s tax preparation software makes a mathematical error that results in your payment of a penalty and/or interest to the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) that you would otherwise not have been required to pay, April will reimburse you up to a maximum of $10,000.
Assistance: If you receive an audit letter from the IRS or a state tax authority in connection with an accepted tax return filed through April, April will provide you with informational assistance, such as responses to FAQs or links to resources on the IRS’s or other tax authority’s website. April will not represent you before the relevant tax authority or provide legal advice.
