Estimator Legal; Additional Important Information

Please see April’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which are incorporated here by reference.
The estimator is a tool to help you forecast your potential federal refund and federal taxes. It is not tax advice and should be used for planning and informational purposes only. The estimator is best suited for individuals who earn the majority of their income domestically through a direct employee relationship (i.e., Form W-2) or as an independent contractor (i.e., Form 1099) in one of the U.S.’s fifty states or the District of Columbia. If your tax situation is complex, or if you would like more specific tax planning advice as to your particular situation, please consult a qualified tax advisor.
Your actual refund or tax amount may vary: The estimator’s expected federal refund or tax amount is an estimate based on the data you provide at a particular point in time. Your actual refund or tax amount could be higher or lower for many reasons, including but not limited to information that isn’t included or any changes to your income or benefits, filing status, family status, or federal tax laws. In addition, the estimator takes into account then-current law and regulations, which can change, sometimes with retroactive effect.
The reliability of any estimate depends on the accuracy and completeness of the information you provide, for which you are solely responsible. If your circumstances change during the year, such as by getting a second job, increasing or decreasing your work hours, getting married or divorced, having or adopting a child, etc., you may need to update your information. Even where the estimator is provided via a Referral Partner, updates or changes to information provided to the Referral Partner may not be automatically reflected in the estimator.‍
The estimator only provides estimates for federal taxes. It takes into account information including wages, household, education, and capital gains, as well as the most typical credit and deductions, including standard deductions, child tax credit, earned income tax credit, dependent credit, capital gains treatment, American opportunity and lifetime learning credit, and qualified deductible expenses. The eligibility and applicability of certain credits and deductions may vary depending on your specific tax situation. Please also consider any applicable state or local income taxes, which may differ depending on where you live and work.
In addition, because the estimator tool provides only estimates for your federal tax situation at a given point in time based on the information you provide, we cannot guarantee or provide any assurance that your actual withholding will be sufficient to cover all of the taxes that you owe, or that you will be entitled to a refund of any specific amount once your tax returns are prepared and filed after the close of the year. April is not liable to you, any tax authority, or any third party for any losses, penalties, or damages, relating to your adherence to your tax obligations.

1. If you find an error in the tax preparation that entitles you to a larger refund (or smaller liability), we will refund any fees you paid us to use our service to prepare that return and you may use our service to amend your return at no additional charge. To qualify, the larger refund or smaller tax liability must not be due to differences or inaccuracies in data supplied by you, your choice not to claim a deduction or credit, positions taken on your return that are contrary to law, or changes in federal or state tax laws. If our tax preparation software makes a mathematical error that results in your payment of a penalty and/or interest to the IRS that you would otherwise not have been required to pay, April will reimburse you up to a maximum of $10,000. If you receive an audit letter from the IRS or a state tax authority in connection with an accepted tax return filed through April, we will provide you with informational assistance, such as responses to frequently asked questions or links to resources on the IRS’s or other tax authority’s website. April will not represent you before the relevant tax authority or provide legal advice. Please submit any inquiries or concerns to support@getapril.com.
